What You Need to Know About
Teacher Contract Negotiations
The Harvard Teachers Association has been in contract negotiations with the School Committee since October of 2005. Despite a year of negotiations, and the teachers' willingness to make concessions, we have not yet reached a settlement. Our last contract expired on August 31st, 2006. As a result, Harvard teachers are now working without a new contract.
While negotiations generally are not conducted in public, the issue of health care has been made public for over three years in various statements by the School Committee, the Finance Committee and the Board of Selectmen. This website provides access to a variety of the publications that we, the teachers, have put out in response, in an effort to help people learn more of the facts.
We hope that the links to the letters, articles and flyers that we have distributed over the past several months will help you to get a more complete picture of the situation.
